  I haven't travelled alot, but I was in Germany and Austria some years back. My most recent visits were to the US, when I visited XJW's in ND and Detroit. The Detroit XJW's were amazing, and really spoiled us! I can't get back there to visit soon enough!

  Walter, I haven't done a lot of traveling either....yet.....and most of my traveling has been done here in the U.S. where I live....but Germany and Austria! WOW! Was the Berlin Wall still up when you went there? Didja get to see the Lippizaners in Austria and where they train 'em? I'll bet Detroit is really kewl, too....Are there a lot of food venders on the street like in Chicago?

  Descender, sounds like some truly fun and exciting vacation spots....New Zealand sounds just as wonderful as I think it'll be....and I'll love it when I can visit Australia too.....but I know what you mean about Americans being looked upon as walking greenbacks....in Cyprus, the locals had three different prices for everything, depending on where you were from....the lowest prices were for the locals (of course), the next higher prices were for the U.N. troups stationed there....and the highest (are you surprised?) prices were for the Americans....the Greek grocers just loved to tell us Americans the prices of their merchandise...and then follow up with the word "mono" (only)....with a big grin....

  Azzie! Yer KIDDIN!!! LOL! I just knew this thread was gonna reap some good info...

  Canada is a very beautiful place. Toronto is a really neat city that I hope to explore a little more soon. They have the best hotdog stands I've ever seen and the people are very friendly. I really need to get back there soon.

  Yes, I expect it is, Azzie....I'd love to go there sometime...the closes I ever got to it was when I was flying thru Montreal overseas to Nicosia, Cyprus on KLM....we landed in Montreal at night....there was snow on the ground which reflected hundreds of thousands of multi-colored lights in the city....it looked like a Christmas card from the air....I've also heard there's a wonderful passenger train that does a tour across the width of the continent thru Canada....kinda like the Orient Express, only a North America express..heh

  WeeeeDawgies, Gadget....what an interesting trip....gifts for orphans! mountains in Transylvania! Rickety cable car ride up Mt. Sinai!....and I know what you mean about not wanting to return by yourself....I'd kinda like to see Nicosia again, but wouldn't wanna go there by myself....however, it's just not a place that attracts others' interest...

  I spent a month in Australia. . but my most exciting trip was to Egypt. I got to see the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx and even took a cruise down the Nile; it was awesome!!

  SP! How thrilling! Those are just TWO of the places I'd love to see....if I ever win the lottery or something, I plan to take a world tour....(sigh)

  Nope, I wouldn't change the way I left.. Though I didn't know it at the time, it worked to my advantage. I also learned a lot in a short period of time because of the way I left. So no, I wouldn't change it.

  [email protected], too....I wouldn't change the WAY I left, but I sure woulda appreciated having all the info I found on the internet 7 yrs later....to add to my reasons for leaving....

  Yes, Azzie....anyplace counts....just interested in everyone's experiences wherever they traveled, whether near or far...

  For instance, I've had experiences traveling here in the states and overseas....Didja know that you can't get grits for breakfast till you get pretty far South of the Mason Dixon Line? I found that out the last time I drove back to Texas from Washington, D.C. Couldn't find any grits on the breakfast menu till I drove thru South Carolina...

  Any Advice - Afteraffects of taking the Reality Pill

  i have been posting on this board on and off for about two years now.

  it has been a tremendous help to me to read other people's experiences, to laugh, cry and just plain identify.

  however, something weird is going on with me in the last six months and i am totally freaked out.

  Dobby, even though most of my beliefs were either shattered or skewed by WT teachings and the realization after leaving that most were false....and though these personal revelations even extended to my former belief in a lot of scriptures, there are a few things that seem to still ring true and they're what I hold onto....and am reassured by.....the collective theme of the scriptures that refer to an "afterlife" existence......the one where it is said that the spirit returns to the true God who gave it; the one where Jesus refers to the "re-generation" instead of resurrection, and the ones where the apostles refer to our bodies as "vessels" or something like that......this got me to thinking.....if our "spirit" returns to God and our bodies are "vessels" for that spirit...vessels that eventually and always wear out, then the re-generation that Jesus spoke of could very well imply, when taken with the other scriptures, that our spirit, once it has returned to God, can be re-planted or re-generated into a NEW vessel or body to continue on our life's path, being given a fresh start each time, a clean slate, another chance to do something with our lives....Now...I do realize that some people refer to this as a re-incarnation, and in some people's view it holds a negative connotation....that's just semantics to me and I prefer to think that the bible writers had a grip on a few mercurial truths....anyway...this is just my thinking on that subject....and it holds comforting thoughts for me....so I don't worry about death or the future in that respect, I just view it as a pending opportunity for new adventures....works for me...
